Certified for Safe and Secure Hospitality Operations
Sigiriya Jungles Resort & Spa has been awarded the ‘Safe and Secure Tourism Certification’ issued under the guidance of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) and independently audited by KPMG Sri Lanka, recognizing the resort’s compliance with nationally approved tourism health and operational safety standards.
Introduced as part of Sri Lanka’s broader tourism safety framework, the certification was developed to strengthen traveler confidence by ensuring tourism establishments adhere to stringent operational, hygiene, and safety procedures aligned with local health authorities, SLTDA regulations, and international travel recommendations.
Meeting National Tourism Compliance Standards
The certification process involved a comprehensive audit of the resort’s operational procedures, health and hygiene systems, staff protocols, and guest safety measures. Conducted under the supervision of KPMG Sri Lanka as the appointed independent auditing body, the assessment evaluated whether tourism establishments complied with mandatory operational guidelines established for Sri Lanka’s hospitality sector.
For Sigiriya Jungles, this meant implementing and maintaining disciplined operational practices across all guest-facing and back-end departments. Daily procedures included sanitation and hygiene monitoring, staff training on health and safety practices, kitchen and food handling controls, housekeeping protocols, public area disinfection routines, and operational readiness measures designed to ensure a safe hospitality environment for both local and international travelers.
The certification also aligns with internationally recognized safe travel recommendations supported by global tourism and health authorities, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s efforts to position itself as a responsible and traveler-conscious destination.
Hospitality Beyond Accommodation
Located within Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, Sigiriya Jungles continues to welcome travelers exploring some of the country’s most significant heritage and nature destinations, including Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Pidurangala, wildlife parks, and nearby village experiences in Audangawa.
As a resort operating within one of Sri Lanka’s most visited tourism regions, maintaining internationally benchmarked safety and operational standards remains an essential part of the guest experience. From accommodation and dining services to curated excursions and guest interactions, the certification reflects a broader commitment to responsible hospitality practices integrated into daily resort operations.
The recognition was further highlighted by The Sunday Times Sri Lanka as part of the growing industry focus on internationally compliant hospitality operations within Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
Reinforcing Traveler Confidence
The ‘Safe and Secure Tourism Certification’ serves not only as an operational benchmark, but also as a visible assurance of compliance, accountability, and service responsibility within Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. Certified establishments are subject to ongoing monitoring and compliance expectations to ensure standards continue to be maintained consistently.
For Sigiriya Jungles, the recognition further strengthens its commitment to providing travelers with experiences defined by safety, comfort, authenticity, and trusted Sri Lankan hospitality.
